A long due post, which in many ways I refused to want to do. #IHaveAVoiceToo is a campaign that came to grow very close to me, for it stood for everything I believed in and fight for. I must say the month of December was intense, where in I was not only lashing out online but also at home to many of my family members. This campaign has come to influence not only others but me too, I think I grew up a little more during this. Thank you Blogchatter for this. 🙂
Everything I wrote & Did
The start of this campaign was with much determination but way less clarity as to how and what. The idea was to reach out to 50k people and have atleast 5 people be influenced to bring in a change. Initially I was soo zoned out, that it was hard to pick and write about things that would make people talk. The belief is (and was) that, the more people talk about it, half the battle is won. The problem with sexism is, it is soo inbuilt in everyone’s life that they don’t even recognize it as an issue.
Stories have a subtle way to help the message to be delivered across. Linking #FridayFotoFiction to #IHaveAVoiceToo project, sure revealed this to me. Read the story The Trip .
In many ways I wanted to show that Sexism is not just a problem that everyone goes through, may it be us or the celebrities Sexism is a Social Disease. Some quotes from many a personalities we know.
The success of a project is only when people start talking more. #IHaveAVoiceToo had to have people taking note and thinking about it. A twitter poll lead the way for more discussions. Here is what the Twitterati had to say about it.
Once the conversations had begin, it was time to show how sexism has become a part of out everyday lives. We have to constantly be aware and not be a sexist even subconsciously. #IHaveAVoiceToo through everyday stories.
Stories have a way to reach people and you can’t ignore it. Rahul jumped on the #IHaveAVoiceToo bandwagon to say there is another side of the story too, where Men are equally the victims. I agree they are.
The last part of the #IHaveAVoiceToo was a collaboration with a fellow Blogger, Rashi Mittal. Her project #LiveItEqual in many ways overlapped with the ideology of #IHaveAVoiceToo. So we organized a #RantItOut twitter chat to get people to speak up more.
Did #IHaveAVoiceToo reach it’s goal?
The most scary part of running any campaign is to look back to see if you really achieved what you set out to do. One of the many reasons I delayed this post. But the results from keyhole and twitter put my worries to rest and even made me proud.
75,000+ impressions | 11 active handles | 5000+ twitter handles reached
I do hope I influenced atleast 3-5 people to change the way they think. Though explicitly I can’t point out and say so. 🙂
The more you say it out, the more your mind will think about right and wrong. Eventually you’ll fight, fight to make it all right. This is just the tip of the iceberg, there is a long battle that awaits and we cannot stop now!
Thank you Blogchatter for this. You set the 2018 tone for me and the blog.
